The previous owners (Liverpool City Council) had installed nice attractice
steel and perspex windows in all fourteeen windows of the house, and then iron bars
behind them in case anyone got through (which would have been impossible).
These measures were supposed to keep the vandals out,
but the real vandals were the council, and they had been on the inside.
The walls in this room have been coated with
the thickest coat of impossible-to-remove artex I have ever seen.
We have grown used to it.
The windows, however, were amazing when we eventually had them
rebuilt.
Of course, the council now ruled that double glazing was absolutely
not permitted. Funny how when they owned it steel and perspex was perfectly okay.
They are now very nice with little wooden shutters instead of
curtains.
But wait, what's been happening to the garden while we
weren't looking?
