One day I came home to find a hole knocked through the artex into the brick chimney breast.

The rest of the plaster got removed during the following week revealing a matrix of lathe and plaster and a crumbly brick arch.

The wooden bits got burnt outside rather than in the fireplace. I don't know how the Clean Air laws applies in cities, whether you are allowed to burn wood in your house and make as much smoke as a crap Diesel bus, but considerably more agreeably fragrant.

The sanitary bathroom tiles in the kitchen came down next while Becka still had the chisel.

And then that pointless wall we kept having to walk round in the back garden went.

Then the tarmac started to be stripped from the driveway until we called a halt. There is, although, this interesting brickwork underneath which might be more interesting if it extends further... I guess there's only one way to find out.
